1400 Calorie December - Check In #1

I just have to say, I am overwhelmed by the love and support and amazing amount of comments (for me at least) on my 60 Pounds Lost Blog! You are all amazing and it makes me want to keep working at this until I reach my goals, and then work to maintain, so thank you! emoticon

Now for the moment of truth. I had decided on 1400 calorie December and I am super determined to get this done. I can't explain it, but having a limit of 1400 and not a range has really done me a world of good. I don't see how it's any different than having a range of 1200-1550 and eating only 1400, but for whatever mysterious reason it seems to be working for me. I am thinking of making it 1500 calorie January and going back and forth until I get to goal, but we shall see what happens. I may have to shake it up more than that because of plateaus.

So here goes nothing:

I'm obviously toeing the line there, but it seems to be working ha ha! emoticon

I know it's always easier to be motivated in the very beginning when you are trying something new, so I am not arrogant enough to think that my entire month will be so spotless. But my goal is to do as good as possible with minimal bumps in the road. emoticon emoticon

    You are doing amazing already! I think it's easier to eat less after restricting calories that way.. and giving yourself a limit rather than a range. Good job keeping on track!

    Yay! That's so good to hear! It's funny how certain ways of thinking work better than other ways. The range works better for me but the set amount seems to be working best for you.

    Leah: You have to take into account your fitness goals and how many calories your burn, that is why yours is higher. The standard rate to lose 2 pounds a week with not so much activity is 1200-1550. :)

    I hate to be the Debbie Downer of the group, but are you sure 1400 a day is enough? We're the same weight and that's not even my minimum allowed for a day. But, huge congrats for setting a goal and absolutely sticking to it! You may beat me to ONEderland yet!

    Awesome! I'm thinking about doing this, the last week I have been treating my 1750 upper limit threshold as a 'limit' so keep going over by a few calories :/

    Not toeing the line at all - meeting your goal! I think it's great that you get as close to 1400 without going over (Hello? Bob Barker?) because that really is how best to test it. If you stuck around 1250-1300, you really wouldn't know the true benefits of this challenge for yourself!

    I found the same thing. Instead of looking at my ranges I just set myself a 1600 limit and I've already lost a few lbs! Good job on losing 60, that's awesome : )
