Day 12: December 8,2012

Today was good. I went with the food is fuel philosophy and did quite well. I woke up late and so had a late breakfast and a late lunch and then my parents came to stay the night on their way thru to Florida. I had a good talk with my mom about the diet and how I am working it. She was like: No fruit? No dairy? No grains? You eating veggies? I said yes, yes, and some. Luckily she is very supportive of me and once asking if I had checked with my doctor, because I have a heart issue and was amazed that I had lost 8 lbs the first week. Both she and my dad have been concerned about my weight and health since I "became" fat after my 2nd heart surgery when I was in puberty. She was relieved that my cardiologist is the one who suggested it to me.
Then I made the Sunny Citrus Jicama Salad that was suggested to me on this forum (Very yummy!) along with grilled chicken and grilled zucchini.. Delish! I made some rice for the rest of them, but I didn't want it or need it.
I love seeing my parents! And this month I got to twice because they came for Thanksgiving and saw me having my last hurrah before "The Diet." I am very fortunate to still have both of my loving parents in my life!

Hopefully you are seeing a difference in your mind set when you write these feelings down. It becomes a conscious decision, whatever you put in your mouth. I know your parents are going to appreciate your efforts and will be applauding your results. We have similar stories, MAMIZA. It so great to see your progress, both mentally and physically. Keep on truckin!

Nice job! It's great that your parents are supportive - the hardest thing can be people asking questions - even though there is plenty of science to back it up, it goes against what the general public (and even many physicians, if they had any nutrition training at all) have been taught.

Congrats on the weight loss and positive attitude :)
