A rest day... maybe

Saturday, December 08, 2012

Well, I managed to keep my mileage under 5 miles today. 4.8 miles to be exact. I also went to the Farmer's Market, made lunch for my parents (and ate with them), went to my niece's chorale concert, went grocery shopping, and read a book. I also did a little ST, which is what makes me wonder if I should actually count this as a rest day. My usual criteria for a rest day is less than 5 miles walking, and no ST.

I have walking plans for tomorrow as my neighbor volunteered to take the dog for a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon. I want to see how long it takes me to walk all the way around the village I live in. It is at least 11 miles, so it should take a while. It will take me less time if I go without the dog. It kind of depends on what the weather is doing too.

I bought cherries today at the store. They were a bit outrageous in price, but I figure that since I am not buying any junk food these days I can afford to splurge a little on fruit. I had a handful with dinner. They were pretty good, though the combo with chili was a little odd. I probably have enough chili left for another three days.

I've been wondering if Cooper was a stop and sniff dog, or you'd trained him to keep going. Our dogs always liked to smell everything, which did slow me down. I walk much more efficiently now we don't have a dog, but it is more lonely! And I miss their enthusiasm. I agree with you about the cherries! I don't buy snack items anymore, so I use the money for quality produce.

Last spring I could hardly wait for them to show up in the stores - was worried something has happened to the crops. Turns out the Michigsn crops got a late freeze but the west coast cropa finally came in.

Hope your walk turns out nice!

Cherries are always pricey, especially now, out of season. That just makes them taste so much better.

Chili sounds good... it was up to about 70 today but tomorrow the temperature is going to drop like a rock and there are even rumors of snow flurries.
