Ugly Sweater 5k Fun Run 2012

Saturday, December 08, 2012

So the Ugly Sweater Fun Run is a nationwide series of 5k runs to help raise funds for Toys for Tots. Everyone wears really ugly sweaters, run 3.1 miles, drink some beer and hot chocolate (not necessarily in that order) and have a good time. As you can see from these pictures, some were a little more creative than others:

I wasn't that creative, but bumped into a guy I met over a year ago at an event in Downtown Memphis that I went to with some friends of mine, so it was nice to catch up.

So although it wasn't a competitive race and it wasn't being timed by the organizers, according to my chronometer, I ran it in 27:19, which is a new personal best for me for the 5k length! Sad to say, this will be my last 5k for a while as I prepare for the Germantown Half Marathon.

Next race: Move-It Memphis 10k race on February 16, 2013. We'll see if I double my fun when I double the distance!

Hope all of yas had a great Saturday...I certainly did! emoticon
