Clothes Shopping! Size that I didn't expect!

I needed to buy new pants for work today and so I went to Lane Bryant. Now, yesterday at work, I had SQUEEZED into a size 22 pair of jeans... and this is the mystery of being a woman... I can do that and then the VERY next day go shopping and buy a pair of size 18/20 dress pants! I went to grab a size 18/20 top and it was BIG on me! I actually had to have the saleslady grab me a.... OMG... could it be??? Yes, a size 14/16 top! Well, I think us women will understand, but I haven't seen that SIZE ANYTHING since my early 20's (I'm 44 now) and so I bought 4 tops! I only went for pants. Oh yeah, bought 2 new bras, too! Smaller, as well! Can you believe it?????

I'm just thrilled! I just had to share in my excitement! I'm down to 113 lbs lost as of a couple of days ago. Now, I can say that I FINALLY have UNDER 100 lbs left to lose! Actually, I'm shooting for 165-175 as my goal. I'm 5'10" I made myself a mini goal to reach 120 lbs lost by Christmas and I think I'll do it!

Having such a great time getting dressed these days... here is my favorite outfit that I bought today... pants and sweater/top.

Outstanding! It is so rewarding when all of your hard work not only is helping you to be more healthy, but reveals itself in being able to wear smaller clothes! Doing the happy dance for you!

Cute outfit. Glad you had such a great time shopping. I know that when you aren't at a size you like, shopping can be a chore. But seeing your success had to be a great pick me up! Fun, even.
Enjoy your new outfits and revel in the fact that YOU made that happen. You showed up for yourself and got it done! emoticon

Sounds like you are a winner, or should I say loser? Either way, you are an inspiration.

BTW - being of the male variety, I will never understand how women's clothes are sized. Oh well, some mysteries are best left unsolved.

Congratulations! I used to get all my jeans from lane bryant. In fact I used the jeans size I was wearing as sort of a landmark on how my weightloss was going. I started wearing a size 26. It was the best feeling in the world when I put on the smallest size they had there (a 14) and it was too big! I can totally relate to your post! It feels great wearing sizes you never thought you could. I wish you luck on your continued journey. I am still working on mine as well (126 lbs down, 35 to go!) I am tall too (5'11'') so i understand exactly where you're coming with your goal weight and all :)

Congratulations and good luck reaching your mini goal

Good job! I agree with several of the other posters that you could have looked at a top a size smaller just to compare, but it looks like it would have fit. It's an amazing thing that once we go down, we don't realize just how far down we can go! We actually lose sight of what our correct size is.

All the best as you continue on your journey to better health,

Nu

Wow, good for you. My motivation for the day just got stronger because I read this! Thanks for proving it's possible. Enjoy that smaller size but don't get used to it - sounds to me like an even smaller one is just around the corner! emoticon

You look AMAZING! What an inspiration you are. And yes, you could definitely go down another size in the top, it's looking kind of big. emoticon Wow, that must feel great. I'm so tired of tugging at my too tight tops to make them stretch to accommodate my size. emoticon

Oh, gee do I KNOW that feeling GRIN GRIN emoticon

I used to hate shopping. Now I LOVE it! Today I put on an outfit that is marked "large". Never, but NEVER have I been a "large, only XL to 5XXXXX.

Who needs amuzement parks? Who needs fun and games? Fitting into a lower size is even MORE fun!

And yes, BTW, you will always fit into a variety of sizes. Not only do different companies size their clothes differently, but sometimes even the SAME company. But as you lose, rather than fitting into somewhere between 20-24, you will fit into 12-16. (Often store owners will be able to gauge pretty well what size you are in their products.....)

There's nothing like getting into a smaller size! I'm personally on a 7-year low with my weight at the moment, and wearing stuff I bought 8 years ago.
