Reminders

Saturday, December 08, 2012

Today, I am helping my husband shop for a very poor family that the teachers have adopted for Christmas. There are 3 kids who live with their grandparents and have to sell chocolate door to door in order to survive the winter months. There is absolutely no money for Christmas. Our mission is to go and shop for a sweatshirt that a thirteen year old would find uber cool to wear. I hope we are not yet out of the loop of what is considered cool for a teenager. I am sure I will resort to asking some body youngish their opinion in the store. Doing this errand today reminds me of the more important things in life rather than every day battles with weight. There are those that battle every day to have a decent existence. Let's all remember this and try to do some good this month, and every month as well

This is what this season is about. Being able to give & remembering to count our blessings. Some people have so much more than they realize and I think it's wonderful
that you guys want to help this family out and make their holiday a little brighter.
I do hope things start getting better for them soon. I will keep my fingers crossed for them. :)

emoticon You are such a sweetheart! What a beautiful way to share the holiday spirit. Teachers are always such givers-- it takes a special individual. You should let your husband pick out the shirt- if his taste in clothes is half as good as his taste in wives, they'll love it!

Yes, we too often forget to count our blessings.
And too often neglect to share our good fortune with others, who through no fault of their own are in dire straights.

What a wonderful blessing this will be for this special family. I'm certain that the sweatshirt you find will be more than cool; it will be worn with pride and gratitude. I'm so happy that the teachers have taken the steps to help make this month and holiday season easier for this family. Thank you for reminding all of us how there are so many out there struggling with life's basics while we shop for more gadgets and goodies.

Such a blessing does not go unrewarded!! These kids are out trying to see chocolate so that they can have food?? And, we feed half the world!!

This is a great project that the teachers have chosen and they, themselves, are among the most deserving...I know that the 13-year old will love the shirt...and wear it proudly.

Enjoy your holiday and know that you've made MY day!! emoticon
