It is almost 6 months since I stumbled upon Sparkpeople and I am so proud to say that I am 1/2 lb away from losing 20 lbs. This is remarkable to me that I have been able to succeed with such a "simple" lifestyle change. I say simple because it is simple, but not easy. It requires a lot of determination and willpower and energy. Once you decide that you have to change your life, you have to stick with it. I was listening to spark radio a couple of weeks ago, and indygirl was the featured speaker and she said something that really registered with me. It was something like, "don't change or give up something that you aren't willing to change for the rest of your life". What good advice that everyone out there who is trying to lose weight needs to hear and really think about.
This isn't just about achieving the weight loss, but actually achieving a different life. I can't go back to eating larger portions than I should. I can't go back to eating fast food or fries when I go out to eat. Maybe once in a blue moon I can, but it doesn't even sound that good anymore. It is learning to eat better for the rest of my life or I will be trying to lose weight and I would rather maintain than lose.
Live for today! That is my advice but that means that I will make choices that will effect all of my tomorrows and they will be healthy and full of exercise for the rest of my life.
Again, I am so happy for the support of everyone here on spark people, what a great site and I can't even imagine missing out on all the friends that I have met on here and the great things that we are all pushing for. Have a great weekend spark friends and keep sparking everyone!!!!!!
