A toaster is really a simple item, but our last one has been burning toast for the last 5 years or so at the lowest setting. I never did call the manufacturer and probably should have. Today I decided it was time for a new one. The cheapest one was the same brand as the one that burnt all my toast, so I went with the next model up which was a different brand.

It has all sorts of fancy buttons and a "cool touch" exterior. I'm not sure if I care about all the extra features, but when I have my 5 year old making his waffle in the morning, the most important feature is that it shouldn't burn my food at the lowest setting.

It's amazing how the simplest item makes the rest of your day go well. When my toast or waffle comes out just right, then I can go about my day without concern. When I can't get my toast to come out right without a hassle, then my whole day can go wrong because I'm moody from having to fight a simple appliance. I haven't even mentioned that burnt toast can become a fire hazard, it was a daily frustration.

So now I have a new toaster and hopefully it will work according to how it should. I'm hoping it won't take as long to figure out this toaster as it has some and that my toast will come out just right.
