Time to start again.

Saturday, December 08, 2012

I stepped on the scale again today. I have gained 15 pounds since I moved last January. Even though I have been overweight for years, for the first time it is affecting how I feel. I don't want my weight to limit my activities, and I don't want to become diabetic like my mom. I need to lose 60 pounds. It's time to become more active and pay closer attention to what I eat. Today I am eating as I usually do, because I want to see where I am and how bad things have become. Tomorrow I will start to watch how and what I consume, and I will make some changes. With the holiday season approaching this will probably be more difficult, but if I can make some healthy changes now then I can be optimistic about the future. Time to start!

Thank you for the encouragement. I tracked the food I normally eat today, and I think I've identified one of the problems! emoticon I had no idea how many calories egg nog contained! Even subtracting that, I consumed far more calories than I should.

On a positive note, I exercised today for the first time in a long time, and I made sure to drink eight glasses of water. Baby steps, but certainly steps that will contribute to my goal.

Tomorrow will be quite different. It is the first day that I will be watching what I eat and trying to stay within the recommended guidelines. I'm excited to get started.

Good for you. You have made a positive choice. Making these changes during this time of year will certainly test your resolve. It can be done, however. I am new to making these changes myself, and over Thanksgiving I managed to stay within my caloric limits, and I even managed to keep the rest of the metric (fats, carbs, etc) in line.
I can also tell you that the efforts are well worth it. I have much more energy and feel so much better now. I have lost 27 pounds so far and have another 40 to go.
If I can do it so can you.
