How much longer?

How much longer will I have to fight this?
I got married 12 years ago. I took one look at the pictures from my wedding and it's been a fight ever since to lose the weight. I was 256.
I've gotten as low as 222 and gone as high as 288. Today I am 254.4
I've tried so many things: Atkins, Curves, went to a dietician, the paleo diet(not easy when you're vegitarian) 1200 ADA, Spark, Biggest loser, biggest loser jump start, eat clean diet, the Swiss secret, the perfect fit book, just counting calories, counting calories and exercising every day, just exercising everyday and eating normally, My Fitness Pal, Jillian Michaels ap, track everything, not tracking, weighing once a week, weighing every day, had every test at the dr. one dr said - just walk walk and youll lose. One said- go see a dietician. obe said- well if your not willing to have surgery youre not serious about weightloss. one said- if it doesnt grow on a bush dont eat it! (he told me to use the paleo diet and that it wouldnt fail)And on and on. All the blood tests are normal except the cholesterol.
How much longer till I find the answer????

    I have spent about a year and half on a journey that was all about learning some things from my past, accepting them, forgiving myself and others and I think I'm finally ready to see the weight change. It's tough!

    emoticon It is hard! I have moments like this too...sometimes every day! How much longer? As long as it takes! In the group I am in at church our leader says this ALL the time "It's a process!" Sometimes (in the group)I find God wants me to work on another part of my life and not the weight so I don't lose. But then comes a breakthrough and the light goes on in my head. emoticon You will find what works for you, but don't overlook the other victories!

    Sorry you're having such a tough time.
    Personally I like the fitness first approach, meaning start by exercising, walking is awesome!!!
    Something happens to your self-esteem when you start incorporating regular exercise into your daily routine.
    My solution to night-time (over)-eating is working out in the evening.
    As far as "diet plans" go - I believe in calorie counting, reducing/eliminating processed foods, eliminating all sodas/diet sodas, artificial sweeteners, just an overall cleaner way of eating.
    Hang in there! Things are bound to click;just don't give up.

    Have you read the book Wheat Belly? Maybe your only problem is a sensitivity to wheat. I can't lose weight if I eat it. Like you I tried a lot of different diets and if they included whole wheat I didn't lose. I can eat oatmeal, brown and basmati rice, and other grains - just not wheat. Just cut that and processed foods out and see what happens. Don't you lose on C1?

    Rats - I hate to see that you are struggling again. I was reading through some of your old blogs, and remember that you've had periods of success, followed by times of defeat. It seems to me that you HAVE found the right answers (food wise). So many of the plans/methods you've mentioned & tried will really work wonders. But really, they aren't "answers" at all.. they are just tools. It sounds like you need to reach deep INSIDE and ask yourself what is keeping you from being happy and being your best. It might not be something you can grasp or point to on the outside.

    I'm no expert, but I'm willing to bet that a large majority of us as women have struggled with emotional eating, and still have triggers that bring us to that point to where we have to DECIDE whether we will let those emotions control us, or take control of our emotions. I wish I had an answer for you specifically, but we are all so different (and yet so alike). My "beach glass" blog talks about one of those moments for me. Search SP for blogs, posts and articles about emotional eating and/or "sabotage" and I bet you will be surprised to see so many struggling with similiar issues. That really helped me.

    Perhaps try googling a local support group - churches in your area are a good start... many of them host wonderful gatherings of women who need a group of women friends who can relate! Good luck to you - let us know how you are doing.

    It took me a long time to find the right meal plan, so I understand your frustration. I started carb cycling after hearing about it on Dr. Oz. It is perfect for me. If you are interested in reading/hearing about it, do a search on Dr. Oz's website. Good luck.
