Little Things

Saturday, December 08, 2012

Has 2012 been a hard year for you? It seems that it has been for many people, or maybe I empathize all too well because of events in my life and so notice it more.

I have always been a "glass half full" kind of gal, but I have had more than one time this year that I couldn't even find the darn glass.

After a while, I began to think that I really needed to address this problem, and as I thought about it, I began to think of the situation in Spark terms. I needed a goal...so I decided that I needed to do little things that made me feel better.

What were these things?

1. I bought a bath/shower gel with a scent that reminds me of happier times...each day I am reminded of these less stressful times as I use the gel.

2. I play with my new puppy. That yellow Lab face is just so inquisitive; she makes me laugh!

3. I enjoy a cup of hot white tea and think about a Sparkfriend and her wise counsel this year. I also think about my other Sparkseesters on a team that are enjoying a cup of white tea as well. The seesters are so much fun!

4. I use my very favorite house scents - it has to be laced with cinnamon this time of year!

What little things do you do to help to refill your glass?

Tammy I did not realise you were posting bloigs. There are so many places I do not know about on Spark. I still have a hard time finding the feed things I use others to get to mine.
I just keep on trying to get things done. I loved your list of little things, I have been teaching my taste buds about Cinnamon. We never used it growing up in England it was always NUT MEG in our house and we had to grate it. No Spice racks there in my youth.
Now I shall be subscribed to your blog so I can read about you. That way it goes both ways. HUGS take care and keep pushing HUGS Dear Tammy Pat in Maine,

Those are great lifters! I think another thing that helps me when I'm trying to find the glass is counting my blessing. I say, I am blessed because...and I force myself to count my blessings. Then, next thing I know, I have forgotten what I was down about because there are so many things to feel grateful for. Hope you have a great weekend! Keep up the good work! Spark on! emoticon emoticon

It has been a tough year all around .. Like you I am a optimistic pessimist .. If it can go wrong well it usually does but I have tried to take a more positive out look. Your things you did for yourself are wonderful .. Keep up the attitude and things will change ... emoticon

2012 was a difficult year for my family with surgeries but I thank the Lord everyone is doing better and I'm looking forward to 2013 as well. Thanks for reminding me that the Little Things can make a big difference. I brought out a couple of Christmas decorations that survived our move and have been enjoying them.

Thanks, Tammy, for reminding me of all the little things that make a difference. I have a wonderful scented soap I use and my shower becomes a little haven of indulgence and self-care. Special coffee, and of course, the white tea!! A different attitude from the inside, and the world looks different, too....

I love that you've found your JOY in the little things that remind you of happier times! I, too, am a "glass half full" kinda gal, so I always try to look at the positive side of things & focus on gratitude for all that I have in my life! It's not always that easy, but I don't give up ever trying! Um, I do have my moments! LOL

Merry Christmas, Tammy! May you find your JOY this holiday season!

Great thoughts Tammy. I have been using a scent candle this past week. My year has been very rewarding to me, I have helped a lot of older people by delivering food from Harvesters. I just found out one of the ladies was sent to a Nursing Home. emoticon . I find solace in reading my bible and praying every day. Took my grand daughter out for lunch and shopping today for her 15th. birthday. I am so thankful for my familly. emoticon Here's to 2013
God Bless

emoticon Tammy. Thanks for the reality check. I think sometimes we get too caught up in what's going on at the moment and lose our perspective. Life really is made up of the 'little things' isn't it? Thanks again.

Tammy, you've come up with good 'little things' to help yourself through. I need to find a few of them myself. I'm so glad you have found a method.
Here's to a new year with hopefully fewer stress filled days and challenges. emoticon

I know exactly what you mean about 2012 and I am so looking forward to the new year and a fresh beginning, except I'm not waiting until the new year for that beginning.
