Turkey Burger Came Out Both Ends!

Saturday, December 08, 2012

OK so I thought of trying to re-add meat to my diet today. Tried a plan turkey burger with ketchup only to find myself still lying in my bed 10 hours later and up at 12:32 am with an upset stomach. It went down OK not the same when it came out of my body. There has to be a better way I am not sure if I got sick from the actual meat or the thought of eating the meat. Anyway I don't want to have that feeling again. emoticon

Checking the brand is a good idea, but to reintroduce yourself to meat, like adding anything new, you have to start off slowly. For example, add a little to you beans, or if you eat rice add it there (just a little). Your body has to do something it has not had to do for a while, digest actual meat. The decision to introduce meat still leaves a lot open to you. You can return using the full portions or less than that. How far from being a full vegetarian you want to go is up to you. Your body will adjust whatever you decide is best for you mentally, spiritually and physically.

NOTE: (About checking the brand you are eating). Do some research, the food industry is under attack from all directions. From the pesticides used on fruits/veggies, amount of antibiotics to farm animals, genetically modification on all fronts (fruits, veggies, meats), pushing supplements that when found in nature are good for you but otherwise ineffective. All the changes that are being made may be what made you sick as well (it's not about turkey or the amount at all) since you've been away from it for a while, your tolerance may simply be low. Investigate, change brands/try freshly ground turkey and see if there's any difference.

It may sound like a lot, but you're worth it! emoticon

Realize that you made 20+ years without eating meat, so I suggest going little by little and of course, getting less processed meats, like buying lean turkey breast from the butcher and asking him to grind it.

I'd go with the chicken breast also and eat just a bit of it. It may take awhile for your body to adjust. Hope you're feeling better!

Oh no! Yea, you may want to try chicken breast or turkey breast first. Try a few ounces first, then increase to 3-ounces. Good luck!

I think turkey patties are processed foods. May want to look up the brand of the one you ate. Processed foods will definitely hurt the stomach especially after not having the meat for so long. Hope this helps and hope you get better soon!
