Holiday Parties

Did your family throw a holiday party each year? Do you remember attending any holiday parties?

1. My parents had a party between Christmas and New Years. It was for the adults, so we had someone watching us or were with another family member at their home.

2. I remember attending a lot of holiday parties through the years. My church youth groups always had a holiday party. Two of my friends and I changed off houses for our sophomore, junior, and senior years in high school. The three of us always worked together to decorate, arrange music, food, invitations, clean up, etc. The year it was at my house, our chemistry teacher and two guys in band had formed a trio and they came and jammed for two hours!! Everyone loved it, including my parents!! It was great!!

Since I have been older several groups I have belonged to have had holiday parties. My DAR chapter always had a tea. That was fun to be dressed up. My sorority in OH had a Christmas formal with a queen and attendants. It was something we all looked forward to each year. My individual chapters in OH and FL always have chapter holiday parties, too. One year in OH, my step son borrowed a santa suit and put all the secret sister gifts in a big bag and passed them out at the party. That was a lot of fun. Since my cancer, I participate on-line only, so I haven't been to a party in several years. I miss them. Perhaps next year we can get a small gathering together with a few neighbors.

Do you have/attend holiday parties?

Blessings to everyone. I hope you who are in the US took time today to remember all of those who died on this day in 1941. I wasn't born until after the war was over, but the results of the event have been present in my life.

Peace Love Joy to you all!

My parents always had the Bridge Group, aka The Friendly Few, on New Year's Eve. My husband and I hosted our Bridge Group on New Year's Eve for almost 20 years. Sadly most of them have died.

I used to love the parties also, but my family is now spread across the U.S. and getting everyone together at the same time is hard. Thanks for sharing your memories. They brought back many of my own.

I remember some gatherings as a kid more than parties, none of which were much fun.
Thanks for sharing!
