Odds and ends

I have let things slide for a while now with my tri training. I have been walking a lot, but tonight was the first time I ran intervals in weeks, and it has also been weeks since I went to the pool or out on a real bike. It just seems so far in the future that my motivation just isn't high enough to get me where I need to be for that. I did well with the running tonight with the dog though, so I don't think I have lost much of my progress with the running. It has gotten a mite bit too chilly for me to be comfortable riding a bike, so that may have to wait until Spring. The pool is closed until January, so there really isn't anything I can do about that. I think I will work on the running until after the new year starts, and get back to the swimming when the pool reopens. Sounds like a plan... now all I have to do is follow through. erk! Uh oh! I can do it. I just need to remind myself again in January.
I was planning to take it a little easier today since I had already tracked over 52 miles this week, but I had errands to run, and since I don't have a car I walk everywhere. I had an anxiety attack on the way to the bank. Not the really scary kind where I can't breathe, but it was still annoying. I was tempted to turn around and go home, but I was most of the way there, so I gutted it out. I don't get these attacks when I am out walking the dog... ever. Something about him or his company prevents them. I wish I could get him listed as a service animal so I could take him everywhere with me!
The dog doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects from getting attacked yesterday. Of course I didn't try to take him down that street today. We might just avoid that street for a week or two. He has a pretty good memory for bad stuff.
I made a big pot of chili con carne tonight for supper, and for the rest of the week. I always make a ton. I find chili just tastes better and better the longer it sits in the fridge. The flavors blend better over time. I actually came close to being within range on my sodium today for a change. My mom bought me no-salt tortilla chips, but the fat content is extremely high, so I don't eat very many at a time. Speaking of mom... I am going out to the farm tomorrow to make lunch for her and dad. Dad said he would take a ham steak out of the freezer tonight to defrost for lunch tomorrow. Yum! I don't know what I will concoct, but it always seems to turn out pretty good.
