Dumb (kinda) Question?

Friday, December 07, 2012

Folks, I'm a nurse. In intensive care, no less. I take care of sick people, very sick people, the sickest of the sick. What I don't do is GET
sick. Nothing a couple Tylenol won't cure, anyway,

Sooooooo, I woke up this morning. Coughed. And it hurt my chest. Got up to walk to kitchen. Weak. Muscles began to ache. Tried to carry on a conversation with hubby. Brain fog. Couldn't talk and make sense. Asked for some cham clouder for lunch.

So what's your diagnosis, prognosis. Will I live to blog again?

Thanks to all of you for your good advice and your concern. I did see a doctor and it's official: flu. I'm taking tamiflu and should be ok in a few days. Every thing that needs to be done will just have to wait. Just hope Santa's elves remain healthy! Love you all!

Sounds like a bad case of "I can't be sick, I gotta take care of everyone else!" In other words, get it checked out and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!

I hope you feel better soon.

I'm a nurse too and my first reaction is either flu or stress. If it continues, I would make an appointment. Hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like Influenza to me ( amateur medical doctor to my family oh and I seem to get stuck with giving last rites to all the dying pets - a job I detest) . But yeah get it checked out.

Fact is that people who aren't often ill don't have as good a 'feel' for what might be wrong due to lack of personal experience in how it feels to be sick.... no matter what illnesses they've monitored in others. If unable to talk, make sense AND have no fever? that sounds like immediate medical check is in order to rule out the serious possibilities.
http://www.cdc.go
v/flu/ shows a map of where flu is showing up.

A few days ago a news report indicated that one (new?) strain of flu going around is not covered by the flu shot. What you're feeling can be minor, not minor...but sure feeling awful, so hopefully you've been to the doc before you even read this. For assurance, cure, whatever it takes. Hope you feel better asap.

I immediately came with stroke "weak...couldn't talk & make sense"

But, either way, you know what to do--ER or doctor.

Let us know.

I'd certainly be drinking LOTS of water, hot herb tea, soaking in a hot tub and eating Vitamin C.

Considering your exposure to all the sickies . . . maybe it's time for a visit to your Doc???

Just take care of YOU!
