I have found recently that if I am unable to spin the Sparkwheel because a cell phone lacks flash, I will be awarded "1 points" which is a number lower than any that is even an option when I spin the wheel on my desktop. I'm sure that is because I was not able to be shown an ad or two while the wheel was spinning. I'm okay with that.

What has me writing this blog is that I just read a Health article which had some words highlighted in blue and unsderlined. Which means they are links. And I was pleased to see "Wellbutrin" linked because it came up in a discussion at work and I was going to Google it. The link saved me some time? NO! Clicking on that link, and any other one in the article, took me to an ad for Excedrin. That is a sneaky rotten way to insert an ad. And my attempt at saving a few seconds has cost me minutes because now I am blogging instead of Googling.

I was wondering why some of my friend feed comments mentioned the "1 point" issue.......I foam at the mouth over the all-too-frequent "2s" I've been getting lately!

Guess it's a good thing I don't have a smartphone, eh?

I REALLY hate when ads appear suddenly right in the middle of where I want to click - do they really think I'm gonna respond? H**l to the NO - try *total rejection*, bunkie! Fortunately I have a very STRONG sales resistance!

There are ads that pop up and cover the page when I am trying to write and other ads that totally obscure things like the Friend Feed. I wish that they were better placed. I would be more inclined to click on ads if they were less obtrusive and if Spark send out an occasional reminder that --- please support our advertisers so we can continue to offer this free service.

I have the problem of floating aggressive ads with both Firefox and Chrome. So, I most certainly "hear you". emoticon

The ads kind of got to me too and part of the reason I burned out on SP and stopped sparking a few months ago. But I am glad the site is free because I could not afford to subscribe to it. I guess that is what my dad always meant when he said to take the good with the bad.

Maybe part of the issue is the browser you are using. I had all sorts of trouble when I used Explorer but now that I am using Firefox, the ads never get in my way.

. . . but it's free. Thank goodness for the ads because I'm a cheapskate and I would not subscribe to this site.

I think the ads have gotten worse. The scrolling ones when I tried reading articles today have me considering a break from Spark. I have been considering a break as I am not been getting much benefit for the time spent lately.

Ads can be annoying in any media but they're not going to go away despite our complaints as they are considered effective. Keep on Sparking. emoticon

I know more and more ads seem to be appearing, but I do like sparks, so just try to get past them when I can.

they cover recipes that I am trying to print and I keep getting bumped off! why do they not just put them along the sides and let us choose what me might be interested in! Do they really think I would seriously buy something they tricked or pushed me into watching! Where is their thinking cap?

Yep. 'fraid SP's advertisers don't get much traffic from me. I've learned to dodge almost every strategy so far : )

I'm with you on the blue links. I learned real fast not to select those.

Pop-ups are annoying too. I'm on a laptop, so I don't have your issue of minute cost. An annoyance. Maybe Sparkpeople will go to a business model that Salon used. Free included ads, paid subscription had no ads.

I hate when the ads cover a section of what I'm reading and cannot be removed.
