To follow up on the organic wine question: here is an interesting 13 minute video from "The People's Chemist" that discusses organic wines with one of the owners of "Our Daily Red." Most importantly, it doesn't mean that much if a wine says "made with organic grapes" because they can buy those grapes - which may be of poor quality - and then throw them into the general mix and treat them with sulfites, other elements such as copper, plastics, and extra sugar, as well as the sulfites. Sulfites are a preservative, meant to prevent oxidation, pests (bugs), etc. Very bad for you. So the thing to look for is organic AND sulfite-free.

So, tonight over dinner (leftover ground beef and fresh kale with - yes, the organic, sulfite-free red wine - good stuff), we watched a very thorough and interesting talk by Dr. Donald W. Miller, a heart surgeon, who goes through the history of the bad science and misinformation that's still the dominant paradigm about the virtues of carbs and the dangers of saturated fats and cholesterol, requiring a low-fat diet - and gives good evidence for the correlation between eating low carb, high saturated fat diets and good cardio health.
