Lost my best friend today

Thursday, December 06, 2012

Well. This morning my pup Kaila back home had to be put down. She was diagnosed with lymphoma early in November, and in the last day she went downhill really fast. I drove home after finding out so we could go spend some time at the park and such since we didn't know how long we would have her; I am surprised she made it through Thanksgiving considering how rough she looked when I saw her. I'm glad that we put her on the presidone instead of chemo because it gave her a couple of pain-free weeks (quality over quantity was most important to us, and chemo would mean she would have to get shots at the vet every week, and that's just too much). So, I'm dealing. Sipping tea and snuggling my kitties. She was the best dog ever.

I miss my baby girl.

Sorry about your dog. When I was a child, we had a dog that looked somewhat like that named "Poochie". He was a lot of fun.

Here is a link to a wonderful poem the Vet gave me when I had to put down Keech a number of years ago. Hope it helps you too!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your best friend. I know how much it hurts but I think you did the right thing. I lost my last puppy this past May and I still miss her very much! I hope you'll take comfort in knowing that you gave her the best life you could and that she never went without love.

I am so sorry that you have lost Kaila, I just know she is at the Rainbow Bridge with my Honeybear having a great time. I sure know what you are going through and so glad you had some time with her when you went home last. It is so hard to give them up but she is feeling great now. Glad you have your kitties to snuggle.

Sending hugs from me and Zoey. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my golden retriever on my 40th birthday and cried the whole day. I can tell you the pain does eventually go away and gets replaced with happy memories and funny stories.

I understand how sad this is as I've been through similar in the past. Sorry for your loss. But I've glad you didn't try to keep her alive and she'd suffer longer.

I'm sorry for your loss. I had a best friend named Kaila too that I lost 4 years ago. She was a wonderful German Shepherd pal. I still miss her. I have an old black male cat, one of my other best friends. I have an old female black and white kitty, and a 3 year old border collie terrier mix, my other best friend. Then there are the basement cats, a mama tortie and 2 kittens.

It is so sad to lose a pet, a member of the family.

I'm so sorry you lost your pup! A dog can be the best outdoors workout buddy you could ever ask for!
I just lost my dog on Oct 23 only 2 weeks after I noticed she wasn't acting right... I declined biopsies and xrays, as she had lumps in her throat and I had no plan to put her through chemo. The vet gave her pain meds, but I couldn't get her to eat... it was very sad. I loved on her as much as I could but then she just "left" ...

Be strong. I've found that when I feel like I'm about to breakdown, I get involved in a chore or a hobby so I don't linger in the "breakdown lane" ... I hope you can take comfort in knowing that she's not sick and in pain, and one day you will be ready to accept a new adoring fur-baby that needs your loving care.
