Drama on our walk today

Thursday, December 06, 2012

I was walking Cooper this afternoon and this little black dustmop of a dog attacked him. The other dog's owner didn't have him on a leash, so I had to try and keep them apart until she got there to grab her mutt. Cooper seems okay. He was favoring his left hind leg at first, but we finished our walk just fine and when I walked him this evening he seemed okay. I will keep an eye on it, just in case. Poor Cooper!

Our mileage total for the day was 9.8 miles. I didn't take any walks without him today, so that is the total for both of us. I did do two SP videos for ST this afternoon. I finally used my new heavier weights again. Man, they were a real challenge with 10# weights! I will try and do some more on Sunday. It is supposed to rain on and off for the next five days, so I will probably be looking for more indoor activity. I just can't get excited about walking in freezing rain. And Cooper? Nope, no way, no how.

My eldest niece, Tigan, should be arriving back in town sometime next week. I think I will recruit her to go Christmas shopping with me. Normally I am done by now, but this year I have just barely started. I have her present purchased, and her dad's, but hardly anything else for anyone else. Two years ago I had all the presents purchased and wrapped by Thanksgiving. I guess I am just not in the spirit yet. Bah humbug!

Oh no! I'm so sorry and I'm so glad he is okay! You know what I went through in the summer when my neighbors pit attacked my dog. It was awful. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'm glad it wasn't any worse than it was. I can't stand ppl who don't keep their dogs leashed. Mine is always leashed & always has been. It's called being responsible. I'm so over irresponsible dog owners.

I despise people that do not keep their dogs up. I cycle a lot and I am always getting chased, having to swerve, etc. I am glad you fur-baby is alright.

Poor Cooper! That is so frustrating when people don't keep their animals on leashes!

Why do owners assume their dogs will behave rather than keep them on a leash? My friend's dog has been attacked many times on their walks, to the point she has to drive to another neighborhood just to take her dog for a walk.

It is such a pain when others don't keep their dogs on a leash. Maggie isn't too good with other dogs so if we run into another dog like this we try to keep between them and warn the owner. Also not afraid to kick the other dog if they get too close.

Poor Cooper! I am about half done with Christmas shopping, I really do not exchange gifts with very many people any more, and our family has scaled gift giving way down in favor of donating to charities instead - and that is done. :)

Back when my youngest DD brought home a beautiful border collie home with her from college, I was taking it for a walk when a large pit bull type dog suddenly charged out from somewhere at us. I screamed "SIT" and the dog did just that!!! It looked around so confused. I kept yelling sit as we backed off. We were lucky that the dog did have some training. You might try that if it ever happens to you again. But I hope it never does. Glad Cooper is ok. Give him an extra big hug!

I hope Cooper is ok. Please wipe him down well to make certain there are no deep scratches or punctures. I didn't know how badly Tazzy was hurt until hours later.

I hate Christmas shopping and do very little of it. Actually, I hate shopping period.

I hope Cooper gave the dog the "talk to the paw" look.
