Almost sidelined

Thursday, December 06, 2012

Four days and I haven't missed a workout. Thought about skipping it yesterday and today because I think I'm getting another bout of sinusitis/bronchitis. No wheezing so I still did it. I am determined to get to 12,000 minutes before 2013.

I wasn't going to do my annual Christmas baking this year. I decided that I wasn't going to deal with flour in my kitchen and risk contamination. Then my husband started requesting sea foam, peanut brittle, and no-bake cookies. The no-bakes are still questionable, but I guess I can do some candy and maybe some night night cookies. Just because I'm not feeling it doesn't mean others aren't looking for our traditions. I don't have much of a sweet tooth so that doesn't worry me, I think it's more the adjusting to being gluten free.

We're supposed to be getting our first big snowfall this weekend. Kinda looking forward to it, especially since I have Monday off. Maybe that will help me get in the holiday spirit.

Have you thought about getting your husband involved in making the goodies? If he's the one making them then cleans up the kitchen well afterwards (of course, all under your supervision!) maybe that will help with both your needs - his to get the goodies and yours to stay away from the flour. Though I do like the idea of you making the candies that don't have flour and aren't highly tempting.

Have you tried using using a medication that loosens mucus (like mucinex or a guaifenasen syrup) and helps you cough it up? You don't want to take anything that stops coughing because it will worsen the problem, but if you can cough it up perhaps you can prevent the problem from getting worse. I've had bronchitis several times and because the doctors tend to not believe me until I start coughing blood, I've learned to take something to help me cough it up well before it really settles into my lungs. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Ugh! Sorry you're getting sick! I'm on the upswing from a sinus infection now, myself. Missed one day completely last week and took it easy a couple other days.

Can you find ways to adjust the traditional recipes so that they're more in line with your needs? A flour substitute or something? I never know what's available for substitutes! I totally suck at making adjustments like that!

Anyway, I'm sure you'll get it worked out emoticon emoticon emoticon
