My Day is Getting Worse...

Thursday, December 06, 2012

Mom woke up in a horrible mood...confused & argumentative...I can't please her, no matter what I say or do...This part of dementia makes me crazy. "Against her will" we're sitting on the couch watching a recorded ELLEN show. She cheers many people...maybe it will work for my Mom...Let Us Pray To The Lord...Hope to have a better story this point, I'm not going to mention the S Word (shower). I'm going to try & take it one HOUR at a time...Take care...

I am Very Curious about why Dementia Patients are so "Anti Bathing"? Almost everyone that I have taken care of shares that same characteristic. That even includes people who - prior to the illness - were fastidious about Personal Hygiene.

It must be very hard to look after someone with dementia, you need a medal.

So sorry that it's getting harder to take care of your Mom. It is very difficult to say the least. I hope soon she will be in a nursing home where you can still visit her often. I know it's a hard decision but ultimately the best for you and your Mom. Take good care of yourself. God Bless.

Janey, So sorry to hear that your mom is having a bad day. I'm sure that it is really hard to remain positive when things are not going well for her. Still praying that you get your mom placed in a nursing home soon. Sending hugs your way!

We have gotten to the point that we have to give Mom a bath outside the tub as it is too high for her and we're afraid she will fall .... we have a tub of warm water and we do the bath standing on a towel with hand cloths .... it works really well now and she enjoys it .... the fear of the water and tub just got to be more than she wanted so I know what you mean .... good luck ...     I've just seen your blog and wanted to say hi....I'm sorry that your Mom is having a tough time and I know just how hard it is to see this and to live every day with it....I hope that you can get some help to ease the time you have together.

Am I right that you're from West (by G_D) Virginia?? My husband was from Weirton... he's gone 3.5 years now.

Please take it easy on've been working hard at care-taking and trying to lose weight all at the same's a tough load.

Keep on keeping on and have peace.

I certainly hope they find a place for her soon. She will be better off in a home and you have nothing to feel guilty about. You have done a wonderful job!
