Just the real story.

I'm so lucky. My daughter visited me last April and showed me her diet (this one). She's lost over 60 pounds so far and is still going strong.

I decided that it looked just like what I needed and so far, so good. Of course, I haven't done as well as she has, but even so, I've lost 18 pounds and I'm still working at it. Slow and steady, that's me.

I figure that at this rate, it will take me THREE years to get where I want to be!!! That's just not going to work for me...I 'm going to have to do something about it. When I saw the doc last Monday he increased my thyroid prescription and we think that will make some difference. I've been rather logy and maybe that's the reason...so we'll see. Next weigh=in will be when I see him again on March 15th. BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH!!!!

In the meantime, I'm being a good girl and continuing to eat healthy and making every attempt to walk each day at least to the street corner and back. If I get to the supermarket or mall, that's even better. Funny how much easier it is to walk if I'm pushing that shopping cart.

I have mentioned to my teen-aged daughter that we should get more fitness than walking in grocery stores. I now do the Wii Fit just about every day. I also do a lot of calisthenics off and on during the day. I did the Leslie Sansone DVDs to the point that I know her moves and I do those. I work with hand weights too. I think I'd like a stretchy band with a DVD for my strength training. Maybe for Christmas...

I use to be able to lose weight real easy but, now that I've gone through menopause, it's not that easy anymore. I miss those early days emoticon

Yeah, younger people tend to lose weight more easily - my dr said that ovulation alone burns an extra 1500-2000 cals a month! We don't have that going for us anymore. But as you lose weight, you'll find the exercise part gets easier. At least, that's my experience.

I noticed too when I was younger, I tend to lose weight easily. Now that I am older, it takes longer time to lose weight. Be patient and do not lose hope, for slow and steady wins the race, my dear friend.

Take care & have a fabulous day! emoticon
