Creating New Walking Routes

Thursday, December 06, 2012

I'm getting settled into my new home. I am creating new walking routes to replace my old, familiar, but far away ones. My dog is drawn into neighborhoods with bright Christmas lights, which is fine with me. It has been fun seeing the Christmas lights, but the neighborhood has much less regular street lighting then my old home near the university. It will be dark nights after Christmas! I'm trying to adjust to an early walking schedule, but these short winter days are creating havoc with my walking schedule!

It does get quite dark around here, doesn't it? None of my streets in my neighborhood are lit either. Thankfully it's so safe around here that I don't worry and still walk at night :) Have fun finding new walking routes!!

I know how hard it is to walk earlier, and I am retired, still it is hard to change habits, I also have a treadmill and sometimes just have to use it, I like it, but need to get out in the air, and walking is a perfect chance. to do it. but Spring will be here soon along with lo9nger days.

Oh, I understand. Part of the reason I bought my treadmill is because of dark after work. I know it isn't the same thing and doesn't have all the same benefits, but I have come to enjoy the TM workouts, too. One benefit is I don't have to use sunscreen and don't worry about weather. Gym are good and Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds is also good inside. Best wishes for keeping up your exercise in the winter!!
