Little Adjustments

Thursday, December 06, 2012

Earlier this week, I began by setting 3 easy Fast Track goals with Sparks Coach. I chose: no pop, 10 minutes of stretching and listening to 1 motivational song per day. It seemed easy enough, but it wasn't. I had no problem with the pop and the inspirational music, but I just didn't get the stretching in. I felt kind of bad about this for a couple of days until I was reminded about why I was setting the goal In the first place. It was to develop the habit of positive goal setting, and not to feel bad about another unrealized and unattained goal. So I decided to modify the goal, by changing it slightly into something I was already doing. Instead of a 10 minute stretch, I decided to include a 10 minute walk. This was already in my routine and so Im definitely on the road to success. I'll try new fast track goals next week, and maybe I'll step out of my comfort zone, but for now, I'm pretty happy being successful with my first, slightly modified goals.

A 10 minute walk is a great goal! You can also translate that stretching goal into doing just 2 Sun Salutations: not really 10 minutes, but a bit of a stretch you can do at your desk, and still feel great!

Good for you. Taking small step in a positive direction will lead to big success. Don't be afraid to modify your plan as needed. Just be cautious that you aren't modifying to avoid making progress or out of laziness.
