I did an excellent job of giving myself some goals for 2012, and as I sit down to reflect on them, I have a strange feeling I’ve forgotten one or two of them.
One of my 2012 goals was blogging more. I wrote a blog on 12/30/11 about how proud I was of blogging 15 times in 2011, and how much I wanted to blog more this year. But here I am writing blog #11 for 2012. My big problem was that I did not blog between February and July. I try to make my blogs meaningful, I hate to write just for the sake of getting a blog in the books. But I’ll do my best this last month of the year to take time to put some thoughts out there and keep myself on track.
My Resolutions blog was called “Five for 2012.” It listed five things I wanted to accomplish or strive for this year. The first sentence of the first topic, “Eat Clean” made me lol… “I don't want to give up any one food group.” And here I am in week 6 of my Slow-Carb Diet where I’ve given up dairy, grains, and sugar 6 days of the week. And go figure, I’ve lost weight for 6 consecutive weeks! Well, at least the eating clean thing still applies. I spent most of the year NOT eating clean, but I’ve had a very successful clean eating lifestyle these past 6 weeks, and I hope to make it an even 10 weeks before we hit 2013!
My #2 for 2012 was jumping rope. Good news! I am better at it now than I was in January. I’m not doing double-unders yet, but I can do single jumps and make it up to about 50-60 before I get tangled in the jump rope. I wanted to do more of the high knee jumps, but at least I have more stamina now than I did back on January 1.
The 3rd goal for 2012 was to mountain climb. I was hoping to get out to New Mexico with my friend to tackle Wheeler Peak. But he mapped out his climbing trips this year in such a way that we couldn’t get it done before the snow started. So I will modify this goal. I will climb Brasstown Bald, our highest peak in Georgia, before New Years Day 2013. I’d like to commit to more hikes than that, because I think this climb (although steep) is not even 3 miles round trip. And it’s pretty touristy (paved), but I don’t know if busy holiday weekends will allow me to make two trips to North Georgia before January. I also put new hiking boots on my Christmas list, so if I get those, I’ll definitely be going out for a hike the weekend after Christmas!
Goal four of 2012 was to improve my jeans. Good news and bad news. Good news is that I did buy a pair of jeans this year that would be classified as more hip, and I think they’re more flattering than my old ones. The bad news is that they’re still not THE jeans I’m looking for, because I’m not yet at THE weight and shape I want to be to wear those IT jeans. So this one will have to wait for 2013.
The fifth goal of 2012 I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO DO! Gah! I remembered a lot of the others, but this one was like a total surprise to read! What a great idea I had last January, too bad I never did it. It was to get involved with a cycling group and go on some group rides. But there are 26 days left in the year. Maybe there is some sort of group ride activity going on in December, I just don’t hold out much hope. But I’m on it, there’s still time!!!

Eat Clean the last 4 weeks of the year using designated weekly cheat days to indulge.
Get in two weekly sessions of jumping rope, working on high knees, trying not to hurt my Achilles.
Hike Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in North Georgia.
Look for a group bike ride to participate in before the year is over.
