I want to be done with caffeine once and for all. Even though my only intake is one small mug in the morning, I don't like the way I feel with it. I've tried to do this detox before. Many times. I've tried the weaning slowly thing, cold turkey, and everything in -between. I have herbal teas for substitution and all sorts of tricks to use.

However, the detox process for me is excruciating. I mean, not just days and days with that awful headache, but severe flu-like aches that last for a week or more. But no one else seems to go through such pains when getting off of caffeine, until I heard this story on the radio a few weeks ago.

A local radio talk show host and his crew were talking about the Monster drinks in the news and they were comparing how much and what they drink as they were all highly-caffeinated. The news lady said that she gave up caffeine in the past when she learned she was pregnant. And that she had such severe pains that she was actually in bed over a week. Her conclusion made everyone laugh, but she wasn't joking when she concluded that it turned out that the caffeine withdrawal was worse than labor pains!

So, I'm not looking forward to detoxing. And I have recently tried weaning less each day. Doesn't work for me. Guess I just have to dive in and get her done once and for all. Tomorrow. (smiling)

Wishing all a good day.

Yikes! It is amazing the impact stuff has on our bodies. Drink lots of water and be as active as possible to help rid your body of those toxins. Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and take that leap of faith. Sure tough days may be ahead... but think of the benefits.

Stay strong! You can do it! Maybe some regular tea would help you step down? Or that may just prolong the agony...

I drink a LOT of coffee throughout the day, but sometimes I feel like "the habit" is worse to stop than the caffeine itself. I have stopped before, but I feel I need to be having a cup of something, even if it were water.

However..... I truly do like coffee, so without any effects, I see no valid reason as to why I should stop drinking it. I do stop early afternoon though and don't drink coffee after about 3PM. (Unless I'm going to be up late).

I wish you well.... my DD has tried stopping before and she has an awful time. I know things affect people differently. Good luck to you!

Hang in there! Hope that it ends up being easier than you think.

Sometimes the anticipation is worse than the actual event, ya know. :)

I've done it. It is like labor in that once the worst is over it's worth it. Good luck!

You will definitely suffer from withdrawal, but hopefully the memory of it will keep you from ever going back.
