Thursday's Words to Ponder

Thursday, December 06, 2012

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.
Winston Churchill

I tatally agree with the first part---we need to be open to change, but I have a problem with the last part as I believe their is only one "perfect" person that being Jesus who died on the cross for us. It's good to work towards perfection but with the knowlege that we can never reach that state.

I agree. We are not perfect. We can only strive to get there.

I agree with your assessment. We cannot be perfect beings--only Jesus!

In order to make improvements, we MUST change. Nothing should stay the same!

I agree! Perfection is just not possible. We just hope to get as close as we can.

Still He commands us to be perfect. I think I see Churchill saying take a deep breath and choose Christ every second, choose life every second, choose love every second. Don't be satisfied with seeing small changes that make you look better. Always choose Christ. Be consistent. I think this because I have a brother who makes those choices to be kind, be gentle, be loving, be joyful . . . on a consistent basis.
