IV scheduled for me today

Thursday, December 06, 2012

My sweet little nurse is coming to our casa to put me on IV today. I think I am on my way back as my eyes aren't burning as much and my tongue is not as coated but I think I will just go on the IV for a couple of hours to be sure so I can get back to life. Especially with the holidays coming. The nurse told me on the phone that she has a new solution that has lots of vitamins and will be using that. That is like what they did when I was in Seattle in August. I only had to be on the IV for a couple of hours and was right back to feeling great. I know so weird.

I have a question for those of my sparks friends that live in Pennsylvania since that is where I travel so much due to the grandchildren. Can one get an IV solution anywhere else accept for the ER at a hospital? The reason I ask is that when I was in the Seattle area it was great as they had these stand alone ER places that put me on an IV right away. And the cost was like $500 verses the one time a couple of years ago that I had to go to a ER at Chester County Hospital near where the kids live and that cost $2500 for two bags of solution. Such a huge difference. Knowing when this happens all I need is an IV for a couple of hours I would hate having to pay so much again. I am just trying to plan ahead. That way if I plan ahead I won't need it. I know crazy thing to worry about but now that a doctor told me there is a situation where some people just get dehydrated and there is no explaination, I figure I will be prepared. I am also continuing to research for solutions to keep me from getting like this. I took this last doctors advice and am eating a little mineral salt on my food now to try and help. I also have made eletrolyte beverages part of my daily intake. Also have added banana to my diet. Just trying everything.

I want to thank all of my sparks buddies. You all are so kind and I really appreciated the sparks goodies and well wishes. They really are a comfort when you are not feeling well.
Hope all my sparks buddies are doing just great today. Make it a great day.
Sallie

How crazy is this? I didn't realize this just happens to you every so often. Feel better with the IV. And yes, you don't want to go to an emergency room unless it's absolutely necessary. That care is COSTLY! Most places have Urgent Care Centers - at least they do here in Colorado. That's the way....

I am sorry you are not feeling well. I hope you feel better. Can you order IVs online? It really helps to research with health costs being so high.

Take care of yourself. emoticon

IDK a thing about Penn. so can't help with that. Judy's suggestion sounded good if you could get hubby to learn a little phlebotomy

Prayers with you. The body is so complex. And they send you to one doctor when it is another thing. A thought maybe a b12 shot would help.

Perhaps a letter from your primary care physician would help...

Do they have nurse practitioners of physicians' helpers in PA? These might be professionals who could administer the iV without a doctor saying so first.

Sally where I live they do not have them. Perhaps you could ask your doctor in Mexico if you could get the 2 bags there & have your nurse teach you or your husband how to administer the IV when you travel, you would have to have all the necessary paper work from your Doctor in case there is questions at the security at the airports. Just a thought to check on. Have a good recovery, thinking of you as you are going through this ordeal.Take care Sally

I have gone to a homeopathic Dr. and they have the vitamin IVs. In fact after being on allergy shot for years, this guy cured me with tapping and diet. You just need to check out and make sure they are legitimate. He was also a medical doctor that got into homeopathic medicine when Western medicine could not help his wife. Hope you are back to your healthy self before the day is over. The Flu season has started early here in the States.

I think that's a great question to ask. With the economy the way it is I don't blame you for thinking ahead. Hope you get the answer to your question.
Take care. emoticon emoticon

OH, Sallie. Sorry you need the IV, but glad you know what to do. Hoping the banana and mineral salt (Celtic sea salt?) help. That is a strange condition, isn't it? Here in central FL I believe a walk in clinic would be where you would go for a quick and reasonable IV. Maybe you can Google "walk in clinic" in the PA town and see what is available. Maybe even call them just in case.

Here in Kansas we have walk in health clinics that cost a fraction of what an ER visit would be, and I know the one in my town does IV's. I hope someone will give you the information you need. Hope the IV gets you back on your feet.
