PUSH THAT TUSH -- The Importance of Being Earnest

More And More I Recognize The Importance Of Logging.
ACKNOWLEDGING What I Am Eating Becomes
Even More Beneficial On ‘BAD’ Days,
Because That’s When I Can Really Develop Denial.
I Use The 5th Amendment So As Not To Incriminate Myself.
And To Be Honest…
I Don’t Need A BAD DAY To Make It A BAD CHOICE Day.
ESPECIALLY DURING THE HOLIDAYS.
It Is Amazing How Much ‘DAMAGE’ I Can Do
When I Develop Self-Imposed FOOD AMNESIA.
And The Attitude Goes Totally Downhill From There.

BUT On The Flip Side
The More Diligent I Am About
Taking Responsibility For My FOOD And EXERCISE By LOGGING IT
The More I Notice I Make Better Choices,
Because After All…I Want A Clean Record.

I’ve Been Struggling With Starches Since November
{...And I Confess…
I Didn’t Log The Fig Newton’s Cookies I Polished Off In One Sitting
Or The Saltine Crackers With Cream Cheese}
And Like A Little Kid…
I Feel Like If I Don’t Tell My Nutrition Tracker…
No One Will Be The Wiser.
But Then The Scale RATS Me Out.
{…!@#$ Scale}

So It’s CONFESSION Time.
Mia Culpa
So I’m Going Put A REMINDER On The Fridge
IF YOU EAT IT … YOU MUST POST IT…NO MATTER WHAT IT IS

The same goes for the EXERCISE.
When I make a point of logging my exercise every day...
I do it.
And then I go to the FITNESS REPORTS and check out the
Daily Calorie Differential for fun.
You can find it by going to
MY TRACKERS
then click on REPORTS
then click on the DAILY CALORIE DIFFERENTIAL report.
click below to see what the report looks like
www.sparkpeople.com/mysp
ark/myreport_calorieledger
.asp

I just estimate 500 calories less than what the differential shows
because that is just how my metabolism works...
but it's fun to play with.

I’m Still Enjoying My New SPARKPEOPLE TOTAL BODY SCULPTING DVD.
I’ve Been Using 5 Lb. Weights
And Let Me Tell You, I Can Really Feel It In My Arms, Chest And Shoulders.

___________

and on another note
I watched a really good DVD movie recently.
THE GUARD with Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle
(has a dry sense of humor that reminded me of the movie FARGO)

have fun today...PUSH THAT TUSH

I agree, I've done much better since I've been tracking food and exercise. It forces you to acknowledge exactly what you are and are not doing.

Have a Merry Christmas!

You are absolutely correct. It is impossible to really lie to yourself. Your body knows no matter what.

Yeah, I still struggle with "sneaking" food, but tracking everything has made it a lot more difficult for me to let myself get away with eating treats and pretending that somehow they don't count. :)

I'll have to check out that movie - I love Don Cheadle and Brendan Gleeson!

I hear ya. Tonight is my cousin's annual cousin Christmas party. A pool table full of appetizers then the pans of chicken, pasta and potatoes, then the pool table fills with deserts. I always set myself back at his parties!

I will keep you with me tonight!

Ah yes, the old, "It's mostly air!" argument in another form. I'll never forget when a friend of mine was sharing out slices of a delicious, rich cake, and she said, "Oh, don't worry; it's mostly air!"

You are so entertaining, I love this blog! Being honest, I've also tried to slide that logic past the scale, the fridge, my body etc. I get ratted out everytime too.

Thanks for the smile and for sharing!

Have a great holiday season.

Yes,to me tracking my food and exercise is the secret of weight loss . . .when I am doing well with my tracking my body shows and when I don't track it is like starting all over. I do try to be truthful to my self in tracking all those junks and mighty portions because it keeps me in check.thanks for sharing.

I'm glad to see a blog from the" push our tush girl".

My husband says, AINT once in awhile, which makes me shudder, however, " aint that the truth" about tracking. If we post it, we have to own it.

You have a wonderful way of making your points and we thank you for the kick in our direction. Well maybe with all your practice, it's easier to hit that target. emoticon

I have found that honest food tracking is what has the most positive effect on my weight loss. If I cheat at tracking...........I gain weight. It is that simple..... emoticon

A nurse I worked with lost a bunch of weight and became the go-to girl for other employees seeking weight-loss advice. I remember overhearing a woman ask her if there are ways we can trick our body into forgiving a pig-out. Her wonderful response, "the soul forgives; the body doesn't."

I'm with you. If I log my food I do a better job all the way around. I haven't been doing it lately, and am paying the price. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes, yes, yes! If I don't track it, it doesn't exist......WRONG!!! Yup, since November, it has been difficult. This time of year is a real challenge for me. I love all the food that shows up at this time of year. Thank goodness it isn't around for much of the rest of the year!

Another inspiring motivator to PUSH MY TUSH! emoticon

I will soon move into a house again, having lived with a friend for over 3 months with no internet except for the short time I get to work early enough to check SP! I can't wait to start logging food and exercise again! I know I have gained. Whenever my husband comes, he wants to eat out so we don't impose on the friend, but it's creating damage to my resolve...Some of the time I have been able to take home half and eat it for lunch the next day, but not always. My DH starts work in this area today, so hopefully we'll be off that roller coaster. I can't believe I am saying this, but I can't wait to move into our new place and cook at home again!!

Thank you for an inspiring blog. My demon is starting the day wonderfully on program then doing untold damage in the evening. I never tracked that evening mess as my thought was "I screwed up so bad, it's no use putting that into my tracker." Now, after reading your thoughts, I realize that this is absolutely the time when I need to record accurately in my trackers. I honestly don't know what the calorie count is for one of my slip-up evenings. That is something that I should be aware of and I'll bet that would open my eyes and my mind to new incentive. And so starting now, I am going to try to track "in earnest." Keep sparking! emoticon

I tracked one of my bad days and I was shocked at the calorie amount that I did not even include the cake I ate even though I removed the frosting. My house is free of anything that would get me in trouble, its when I go some where else. Great blog.

Thanks for the reminder. For a few days now I've been operating under the idea of "it doesn't count if I don't track it". I know that's a dangerous attitude. I know this time of year is rough for losing weight. I just don't want to gain all that I've lost!

Urgh - food amnesia - totally understand. I'll be busy and not have time to track, but when I do get the time, I don't remember the cookies/fruit juice/whatever. Oh, I'll think, I still have 400 calories! Yum, nom, nom. Oh, n0 - I forgot about XYZ, now I'm over (again).
