hooray for pineapple!

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

While that Me sound like the most random title for a blog entry it actually is what I'm going to write. Today I had the sweetest pineapple I've ever had in my entire life. Usually, when i have pineapple, it's a little bitter. Today, it was ripe and sweet. I wish pineapple could always be this good. I notice that with a lot of fruit, Mellon and Cantaloupe, it had no sweetness. It's very blah. And fruit shouldn't be bland. But it had to do with how we pick fruit in this country. Everyone wants that shiny, bright orange. Just a little bit if black on the rind may turn us off. So we pick or fruit super early so it looks good, but is not ripe and ready to eat.

You ever notice how fresh orange juice is sweeter than bottled? I heard a rumor that companies arae allowed to put up to 10% rotten oranges in our juice. That may contribute to the taste and minimal sweetness. Point here-try to find fresh route food where you can. It'll make the difference between looking your fruit and living it

I think it is best to eat the whole fruit and stay away from juices. I find it disgusting that rotten fruit may be included in juice. Thanks for sharing.
