False starts

Wednesday, December 05, 2012

Here I am after a few false starts. I managed to quit the fags a couple of weeks ago (I had relapsed this year smoking on and off ) and two days ago I quit sugar. My main interest at the moment, is to keep off the sugar and slowly start eating more moderately. It's a small goal but a huge one.
We had good news in the health front so there should be no reason for anxiety, except for the very stressful xmas season for me. Oh how I dislike it! So much pressure to be happy and have the perfect life and family! But we're ready and prepared, so bring it on.
Just about to put my pink glasses on.

Good Job on giving up the ciggies. That's such a hard thing to manage sometimes. I too was a smoker, I use an e cigarette occasionally. It's my downfall. ZAP!! I just sent you a zap of my resolve in staying off sugar!! I don't know why, but sugar is just not my weakness. Unless DH brings home pie or ice cream. I'd rather just keep that stuff out of the house. If it's not there I don't have to worry.
Oh, I got unsubscribed again from your blogs. As you know that happens all the time.
Happy Holidays and best wishes that you are able to sail through and stay healthy the whole time.

    Hi Claudia,

It is lovely to hear from you again. I agree with others that quitting smoking, and now sugar as well, is a great achievement. Well done to you! I hope you can find some sense of peace in the month ahead...just do whatever you can. I understand as I know it hasn't been an easy year (same here). Take care of yourself and I hope the heat up your way doesn't get out of control.

Hugs and blessings, Nattacia

Quitting smoking or sugar isn't easy. So don't beat yourself up if you're not perfect.

One thing I would suggest is to make sure you have plenty of fresh fruit to eat instead of the sugary treats. Eating more fruit can help you break your sugar habit. The natural sweetness of the fruit will help you decrease your cravings. Also, fruit and veggies are loaded with FIBER. Eating more fiber will help keep you full and sated. When you're full, you're less likely to turn to treats. So, do make sure you're eating plenty of healthy foods that nourish your body.

Take baby steps literally and figuratively.

Sugar and smoking are two hard addictions to break, but I know you can do it Claudia. You have it in you! As for Christmas, try to be kind to yourself. I hope you can still enjoy the holidays.

Way to go on quitting smoking and on quitting sugar. It's very hard to do. Celebrate the season in the way that works for you. No need to do what other people think you should. It can become very stressful, that's for sure.
