As I pursue my fitness and health goals, I am learning to value the rest day. Often the perception is that you have a chill day. In contrast, I am catching up on some work, talking with friends, setting up meetings with other friends. Basically having an all about me day in a good way. As a result, though I am letting my body rest and recover, I am in a great mood. Also as I live/work near the Hollywood Hills on my rest days, I feel a freedom to just go and walk. Not worring about my speed or RPE, but more just enjoying being out in nature and laughing at all the tourists. This week has been great for my soul. I have a life-long battle with depression and this week while it has crept up, I am finding that exercise helps keep it from pushing me over the edge. Through exercise and eating right, I am able to look around my world and see the many things I have to be thankful for on a daily basis.
