Ok, Friends -- Mali is a 5-year-old Lhasa Apso. She was a rescue puppy -- she spent the first several months of her life either locked away in a bathroom (being hidden from a landlord) or in her first mom's arms. My daughter was the instigator of the adoption. She is not the very best socialized dog, but someone's got to love her, and that someone is me.
She is stubborn and funny. Her head does that Tasmanian-Devil-Spin thing when she gets annoyed, complete with sound effects. True to breed, she is an alert dog, and her bark is different whenever she has something to say (which is often). My husband says that she's stupid -- I think that she's really pretty smart -- she trained my husband on how she prefers her treats.
She gets along well with Bailey, my son's/husband's Big Dog (the Perfect Dog). It's hysterical watching her try to engage Bailey -- looks like something out of a cartoon.
She is itchy. I think that it's an allergy, but benedryl doesn't seem to do anything to help, and we have her on a high-quality, grain-free diet, so, who knows?
She does her jack-in-the-box jump up and down to wake me up in the middle of the night because she's cold and wants to cuddle (I always say yes).
When I come home from work, she is waiting by the front door window, dog-smiling and tail-wagging.
All in all, she's a pretty good pup.
