Xmas came early

What a great day!!!!! I will kinda of give a background on the story so everyone understands. About 9 weeks ago I was doing speed training on the treadmill when it malfunctioned and stooped and it threw from the treadmill. I hurt my leg very badly which later I found out had a small tear in my hamstring. I could barley walk for a few weeks. I never realized how much running meant to me or defined me but I missed it so much. I kinda of became depressed and had a pitty party and stared to eat badly and put on weight which made me more upset with myself. but I would rest that leg for a week and give it a try and couldn't do it. every time I couldn't run I got very upset. I wanted it so bad. Then I did some reflecting and with the support of my wicked wife and my spark family I kinda of snapped out of it. I said I am going to rest that leg untill it is 100% better. While I am resting my leg I will do more ST and eat super healthy so that when I could run I wouldn't be super overweight!!!! Well all of last week my leg felt great but i gave it some more time to rest just in case. today was the big day it was -25 degrees C not sure what that is in Fahrenheit but it was cold but I didnt care it could have been -100 nothing was going to stop me. I got all my gear on and went out I ran 4 kms at a slower pace!!!! I felt so alive but man my cardio had dropped in 9 weeks lol. But I made it and without any pain or stopping. When I finished it felt like I completed my first half marathon!!!! I was so overjoyed and happy. But I learned some valuable lessons during this ordeal. first treadmills suck ass lol 2nd if I get injured again ok when I get inured again its not the end of the world. I have tons of support. When there is an injury work on different things in my healthy lifestyle. I am a runner and I missed it so much!!!!!!!

    So sorry to read about your accident and its consequences. It is extremely life changing when you can't do what you would normally do! Take it form one who has been sitting for 3 weeks with her leg elevated after having foot surgery. Just got my stitches out yesterday and now have a hard cast for another 3 weeks and still NO weight-bearing on my left leg! Talk about sedentary! That's just not me! At least I had time to prepare myself mentally for this challenge where as your's just happened and changed your life instantly.

Glad you're on the upswing and able to run again! So happy for you! I look forward to the day I can walk again on both legs! Life is still good ~ so much to be grateful for!

    Glad your leg is healed! Guess this is why we should vary our workouts too... Not only to surprise our muscles, but also to be able to enjoy something else if one part of our body is injured! What a wonderful Christmas gift for you!

    Hi You make me feel so good that I live in my protected valley in BC. My son is in Sask. so he is not so lucky. -15 is about -13 F. We are still hitting around 10 C which is 50 F.

  Woo Hoo buddy!!! Thanks for posting what you learned. I keep pushing my foot, and it isn't healing. I will try my energies in ST more. Glad you FINALLY get to run. And happy you learned something while waiting to run, and passed it on.

    So glad you can run again! I understand that missing it. When I cut my foot and could not wear my running shoe I ran in crocs and got blisters. How dumb!! The strategy to focus on other parts of the healthy living lifestyle is golden!! You are so, so right.

As the owner of an old treadmill, I'm thinking about your in incident. Ughh. I really like to have my TM as backup, but ....

    I totally understand. I felt so depressed not being able to run. There is nothing quite like it. Not running for about the same amount of time made me feel so limited.

I am finally able to run again and I just felt amazing--I felt like I was flying!

I now run with more speed, strength, power and joy than ever before
