I have been taking an anti-anxiety medicine for four years now. My family and I are concerned about me being on it for so long and the effects that it has on me. I went to my doctor last week and she recommended that I start weening myself off by cutting it in half. So I started doing this about five days ago.
I can definitely see a difference in myself as I am trying to do this. My sleep is a little off and I've been having very strange dreams. There's been a few issues that I've been dealing with this week and I can feel my body tensing up.
I know this will pass. I also am reviewing stress articles in order to reinforce some good stress relief techniques.
One thing I read was to plan something fun. I am thinking of planning a get together with friends that I haven't seen in awhile. It's the perfect time of year, I haven't seen some of them in awhile, and it will definitely lift my spirits.
Another thing I am going to do is to start keeping a stress log. Learn what stresses me and ask myself if it's worth stressing about. If I can't fix it, I will let it go.
I have a follow up appointment with my doctor in a couple weeks and will discuss this further with her.
