BCCLARK'S ANNIVERSARY SALE ~ An Oklahoma Tradition

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

It may be hard from someone who never lived in Oklahoma to understand Our Love for a Jewelry Store Commercial. But we know that it really isn't "Christmas" until we have heard the Familiar Jingle.

Hopefully this link to one of the MANY YouTube versions of the Beloved Jingle will let my Friends all over the world get a Taste of Oklahoma Christmas Spirit.

For me personally, I also have to hear "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas." It is another song that originated in Oklahoma and has been around for Many, Many Years.

You want to know something that's funny? I was raised in Oklahoma, from the time I was 7 until I was 20 when I moved to North Carolina. I was away from Oklahoma for 26 years and moved back in the Fall of 2009.
I was listening to the radio while decorating our Christmas Tree that first Christmas back and the BC Clark commercial came on. I had forgotten that commercial in all my years away but the minute the jingle started I cracked a smile a mile wide and sang, word for word, right along through the entire song.
Then I stood there shocked at myself that I would retain something like that for so long, although it had been pushed to the recesses of my mind for all those years, it had been so ingrained in me while I did live here, that I don't think I will ever forget the words.
