Not much going on lately, except work, school, and exercise. I'm in the home stretch!! My HR final is on December 12th, and my Strategic Management final is on December 15th. Then I'm free until January 14th. The only things I have to worry about (besides prepping for the holidays - we are hosting three parties at our house...who the *#@!# came up with that plan? But I digress...) are applying for my study abroad trip in France next summer and applying for graduation.
Yep, you read that right. I'm graduating!!! Go me, I did it! I finished! (Well, not until next July, but whatever, I'm celebrating now.)
Anyhoo, tangent aside, things are just staying the same in scale-land. I'm hopeful that I can get that sucker to start moving again once I finish finals. But I'm still hitting the gym regularly, and I am making some major progress!
The first workout of every month is an assessment. So yesterday I got to see how I progressed. Here's how I did.
Treadmill tolerance (running 5 mph, incline increases 1% every minute until I just can't take it anymore): Nov - 10:00, 9% incline; Dec - 10:30, 10% incline. Minor improvement but this time I wasn't holding the rails...so MAJOR improvement!
2 minutes of push-ups: Nov - 3 on toes, 11 on knees; Dec - 30 on knees (and the week before I had done 18 on toes).
2 minutes of sit-ups (full): Nov - 30; Dec - 28 (well, can't win 'em all)
Wall-sit: Nov - 2:16; Dec - 3:09
Plank: Nov - 2:09; Dec - 2:30
I have got to go back and find my notes from earlier this year when I tried these things on my own. But I'm so happy with my progress! I can't wait until next month to see where I'm at. We did scale and body fat %, too, but those were holding steady at 235 & 43.5%. Boo.
Tonight I had a training session that I both loved and hated. It was chest and abs night, which I love because I am noticing some major changes in my body in those areas. *cough* perky girls *cough*
So I got set up on the Smith machine for incline presses. I have no clue what weight I'm doing, but it's heavy. (Probably 20 pounds, ha!) I did presses followed by leg raises. First round 20 reps, then 15, then 12, then 8. No rest. That's the hate part. I was hurting and tired, and yelling so loudly that my trainer said the boot camp people were going to think he was killing me.
But I made it through!
After that, I did a 2-minute wall-sit followed by weighted lunges, then a wall-sit with shoulder raises, and 30-second spurts on the punching bag.
Then I did squats while holding this insanely large bar. It was seriously the width of the room! I barely made it.
And the big finish was another round of incline presses but instead of leg raises, I did knee lifts.
Loving these workouts!
