Recovery Not Going Good

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

Well, its me again.

My recovery has hit a down hill because I cant straighten my leg yet and it bothers me more now because there is alot of scar tissue arond the new joint in my leg. The Doctor told me that if I dont get it straight before the 12 of this month then he will have to straighten it himself. I will be put back under for the proceedure which is great for me. I just hope he does it after Christmas because I am doing Christmas dinner this year. I hate walking with a limp now but it cant be helped I guess. The good thing is that I am classified as disabled now because of the new joint in my leg.

I have gotten some great news today and that is the gym i use to belong to is giving me a 3 day free pass so I can go in and try and strengthen the muscles around my knee. I go in this Thursday and I cant wait because it has been over a year since I was last there.

I am back in to my fitness routine again and i have started to go for short walks as well. I am happy that i can finally workout again as long as i can handle the pain. I am doing core exercises as well as chair exercises. I have even been using my exercise balls and weights alot. Tomorrow i plan to get in 380 minutes of exercises because i want to keep the 29.1 lbs that i have lost off for good.

WISH ME LUCK EVERYONE because I need alot of inspiration and motivation to keep going so I wont slack off again

Just start where you can and go from there. You'll get back into the swing of it as you feel better.

Good luck with your rehab! I had a TKR last November and I am having the other knee done in January. I had an excellent recovery and I only hope the next knee goes as well. Keep up the good work. I will pray for your recovery!

Keep going with the physiotherapy, and doing whatever you can on your own. Make sure your diet is healthy--high in nutrients. It does make a difference.

Hi there,I am going to Physiotherapy and they are great with me but they can not help me straighten because my therapist doesnt want to damage my leg anymore then it is now. I am working on 10 weeks of recovery and I have to see my surgeon again on the 12th. I have told my therapist that if I cant straighten then I will have to get her to try and do it because I hate walking around with a limp. I cant even put my full weight on the right leg now because if i do then I will suffer with the pain all night. I am even soaking in a hot bath every night and it helps with the pain. I will have to have my left leg done before to long because it bothers me as well. But I will cross that bridge when I come to it I guess.

Thank you all for your support. I luv you all my friends

You mention scar tissue. I had tendon repair in my ankle and the doctor had me rub a little Vitamin E over the area to help with that. You might ask if you can do that.
I was in a rehab facility for a month because I was NO weight bearing at all, and had no one at home to help me.
But here I am now, getting around much better than prior to the surgery.
You are right to continue exercising as much as possible.I ended up gaining weight during that time frame.Do you go to Physical Therapy? They can do amazing things. Just take it one day at a time

Sorry your healing isn't coming along. I don't see how you do what you do; like having the the Christmas feast. Wow. I would be glad to pray for you and hope the problem eventually corrects itself...with God's healing. emoticon
