The last time I was posting I was getting ready to run my fifth half marathon during Thanksgiving week. Well, that fell apart when, just two days before the race, my husband called me and said he had to work Thanksgiving week so we wouldn't be heading to Oklahoma, and my race, after all.
I was so disappointed! I had trained HARD and was ready for the race! I started looking around for another race to do that week.. and found one! In Galveston which is about 1.5 hours away. Hmmm... but, the course is out & back, out & back... you run the same area FOUR times! Yikes! But, still... it's a race... and I'm ready...
But, as I looked at Moody Gardens (where it starts) I saw that on Saturday nights they had snow tubing. WOW!!! Sounds FUN! So, I made the hard choice... and took my daughter for a few days to Gavleston where we went snow tubing, visited the aquarium, saw a movie, played on the beach (in the 70s!), and had lots of fun at the new theme park. What fun!!!
I got home... and just didn't feel like running. It's now been three weeks... and I STILL don't feel like running.
It's so hard to train and run those kind of miles building up to the big RACE.... and then not race.
So, what am I doing? Well, I'm till going to physical therapy twice a week for my lower back and my left shoulder, and that's quite a workout! Yesterday, I tried yoga for the first time. It was pretty good! But, the big thing... I'm CYCLING!
I've now went on 'long' rides for 4 of the past 5 weeks (we skipped Thanksgiving week). It's a new group that has spun off our running group and we are having fun!
My miles? 12 miles, 15, 15, & today... 20!
My goal? a CENTURY ride in 2012!!!
I haven't been to spinning since Thanksgiving, either, but I was doing that once a week. So, my plan is to start riding & spinning at LEAST 3x per week... and trying to run some again, too. And, continue with my therapy, stretching, & strenght training. I'm excited! But, I've got to put in the work to make this happen.
