Well, this is my very first blog post here. I'm trying out the SparkCoach Plateau Busting program.
A little background...I'm 4'11" tall. In January, 2010 I weighed over 200 lbs. I also smoked 3/4 of a pack of cigarettes a day. I had a torn miniscus in my knee, and I was pre-diabetic. I couldn't climb a flight of stairs. It was hard to walk the two or three blocks to the bus stop in the morning and back home in the evening. I chose to be very sedentary at work, never taking the stairs, moving from my desk as little as possible. I felt and looked awful. My sister and I decided to go back to WW and try to lose weight and get healthy. We had belonged years ago and lost a lot of weight, but over the years, we stopped doing the healthy lifestyle, upping portions and lowering exercise.
Today...I am down to 130 pounds. My goal was 120 (a little under the maximum BMI for my height and age...50s). But I've been stuck here for over two months. What have I done? I quit smoking two months ago. That was huge; I've smoked for over 30 years. I am almost vegan...I eat lots of raw veggies and fruits. My husband bought me a Vitamix for my birthday, so I make lots of green smoothies, I eat beans and tofu and seitan for protein, with an occasional protein powder (PlantFusion or Spirutein) added to my drinks. For exercise, I walk a LOT. I add a mile to my morning walk to the bus. I walk at lunch time, weather permitting. I swim 30 to 40 laps in a 75' pool 3 days a week. I do a strength training video workout once a week.
But I'm stuck. I can't cut back the amount of food I eat (I've been tracking with the other program). I don't have time for more exercise (plus I don't want to do any more!). So I'm hoping to get some good tips and tricks to move this last crummy 10 pounds. I've accomplished a lot, but I want to feel like I've finished.
Lately I've felt that althoughmy goal is reasonable, it's not attainable. Hopefully SparkCoach will change this.
