My family is riddled with diabetes. My grandfather, father, mother, uncles - all had type 2. Tomorrow, December 5th, I'm taking a Diabetes Prevention Class at a local hospital. I know a lot about diet and nutrition, as I was a culinary student for years and I have three kiddos, all with food allergies and intolerances. But Diabetes remains a mystery to me. Tomorrow, I hope to remove the mystery and learn what I really need to do in order to keep from having this horrible disease. I'm a little nervous about the whole thing, but I figure it's a positive step in the right direction, so it's all good.

My family suffers from the same. What I learned was animals fats should be avoid as much as possible and having veggies to every snack and meal helps. The classes are very helpful. I am trying very hard to treat my son how to eat so that he will never have to learn like I did.
