A little of this and that ...

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

I can't believe that in one week from today I'll be hurrying my hubby out to the car so that we can get me to the airport on time for my flight. I'm heading out to the Fort Bragg area to go see my son (my baby!) who is in the Army! He's been back from his deployment in Iraq since June and I still haven't seen him. It makes my eyes tear up just to think about seeing him and grabbing him for a long hug.

In the early stages of planning for this trip I had it packed full each of the 5 days I will be there but things have changed ... as things always do ... and now I'm actually looking forward to having a little more of a relaxed trip. No military ball after all which means I don't have to take that dress in that I borrowed, don't have to pack it or the accessories that "make" an outfit. I'm thinking that maybe my hubby's family from Kentucky that are driving over to see me could come for 2 days instead of just one ... I know they would LOVE to see my son for longer as well.

On a different note, it occurred to me last night as I was drifting off to sleep that it's been a long time since I haven't had to S-Q-U-E-E-Z-E my work out into my day. I was thinking the run I want to go on today and reveling in the fact I can go whenever I WANT TO today! It feels so good to WANT TO go work out ... to enjoy the sensation of working my body. In my weight class yesterday I was kind of taken back by the whining of the other two people in the class. We PAY to attend these classes ... we aren't forced by anyone other than ourselves to show up. Why whine??? Why not give 110% of what you have to give with a great attitude as you work towards the quality of Life you WANT to have??? I don't get it ...

I love my weight class ... Love it ... almost as much as I love the feeling I get at the end of a good run! My body shape is changing almost weekly, even though it might be hard to tell from the outside. My biceps are starting to actually show and so are my triceps! I can feel the muscles in my back and my calves have developed a "two level" set of muscles in the back. It is amazing! I've pretty much stopped weighing myself because I can tell by my clothing that I'm doing ok. It might even be time to start looking for a few new things! emoticon

On the job side of things, I'm still not in love with my new schedule but I'm working on my attitude since I CAN control that. The bonus for me is that I have been teaching A TON lately and that is the passion that fills me up! I love dumping knowledge into other people ... LOL ... whether they want it or not! emoticon

I'm totally looking forward to a great run, a good nap and time to learn more about how to use my new Kindle Fire! Technology is so cool --- once you learn how to use it! Woohoo ....

One week ... I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Your trip will be here before you know it. I know you can't wait to wrap your arms around your son, and just savor that moment! Make sure you fill up your "hug bank" before you come back home! emoticon I'm so glad that things are slowing down for you so you can be more relaxed.
Sounds like you are settling into the new routine, and schedule. You are most definitely right about attitude.

Your blogs are so encouraging! This week is going to zoom right past and before you know it you will be with your loved ones. These are the things and memories to be made, that make life so precious. I don't have to tell you to have a good time I know that you already will. Savor the days and store them up as more fuel for the fire.

    Hi Eda!

That is so great that you are enjoying your weight classes so much. It reminds me of when we did kettlebells and I loved that! I am so happy for you that you have found what works for you and you are making progress. emoticon

I am thinking that I can go for an easy jog or walk on Friday if you have time. I won't cancel on you. I miss you! emoticon

That trip is coming up quickly for you and sounds wonderful!!!

I'm enjoying having more "choice" time in my days too. I worked hard to clear the calendar in December as we'll have enough extras with parties throughout. Actually most of the holiday stuff will be done by Tuesday night for us, but a busy 3-4 days to get there!

Sounds like you are doing great! You are right about the attitude, that's the one thing we have total control over. I'm glad you'll have more of a relaxed visit but sorry about the ball. That sounded like a blast!

Oh, I can feel your anticipation of seeing your DS !! Too bad about the ball, but seeing that baby of yours is the MOST important!

Can I say your blog gave me goose bumps in "kindred spirit" land? For one thing, I'm totally understanding the need for mom hugs (3 months before my soldier returns). For another, when you wrote about your body craving the exercise... remember my car trip? Car prison? Coiled spring ready to run? Yeppers.

And finally the Technology so cool... you're learning your Kindle Fire while I'm learning my smart phone! LOL... it is cool... but there definitely is a learning curve. So glad I had the tablet to train on!

Have a great Spark day / week / and upcoming trip! Happy Christmas to all!

Enjoy seeing your son. I too had a son deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. It's so good to get your arms around them when they return.

And congrats on your want to attitude towards exercise. Sounds like you have the Spark!
