He is richest who is content with the least". Socrates
Sunday I went to our torchlight parade. For those of you who don't know a torchlight parade started in our town decades ago. A fire department realized that many young children in their area had no chance of getting presents for Christmas,so they decorated one of the fire trucks. Some kind hearted soul dressed like Santa and they gave chocolate bars and candy canes to all the children.
Now about 50 or more years later it has evolved from that humble beginning to a pretty big parade. We had fire departments from at least 10 area towns all lite up with holiday cheer. Some had igloos and snowmen inflated on top. Some trucks carried firelighters and their wives and children dressed as Santa , the elves, and Mrs Clause.
There was a lot of laughter and good cheer in the air especially when the marching band came through. Their was a teenager in a wheelchair pushed by his bandmates. He can't walk but boy he has won many medals in skiing. They had the middle and high school bands playing together and well might I add. The kids were decked out with funny hats and lights and holiday scarves. I was honored my daughter wore the red green and white scarf I crocheted form some sale yarn.
It was a fun magical night . It made me think of the real meaning of Christmas and the wonderful gift we all have received our lives. We all may not live easy lives but we have received a huge gift and must do with it what we can.
Which reminds me to give yourself a gift this year for Christmas. Be as healthy and happy as you can be under the circumstances. Eat the Healthiest you can, get as much and any kind of Exercise as you can , and spend time in quiet reflection. Always remember the huge mighty gift you were given LIFE and do your best to give a gift in return. The gift of love pass it around as the good little sparkers I know you are. May the magic of Christmas be in all your hearts. Hugs.
