Mom and I had the time to go to the Festival Of Trees at our local museum. We were lucky with our bus connections, catching them right away for a change instead of waiting.
Many companies and individuals are sponsored by companies to make these fabulous trees as a fundraiser for a hospital foundation by auctioning them off. They can range from $500 to $1000!
There were smaller trees:
A lot of trees went with white, loved the owl topper :)
Loved how bright this was:
Some were themed, as this musical one:
This was amazing, with figures snowboarding down the tree, and at the bottom ice skaters:
Was so neat to see these trees:
A beatlemania tree:
At the foot of the tree more collectables:
This tree had a train on a track around it:
There wasn't enough trees using purple in my opinion
There was this massive chandelier in the middle of the room:
I don't know about you, but every time I see blue lights like these, my eyes can't focus on them, they are blurry, but my trusty camera focused on them okay!
Partridge in a pear tree :P
A silver tree:
So late last night I plowed through snow up to my knees in a biting wind to get to the club. I was setting up and then just decided I was going to tackle that big messy drawer and clean it out finally as I was tired of looking for 'lost' things as people throw anything and everything in there. Its about 3.5 feet long and a foot high and two feet of depth. In the summer we had mice in the building and their turds were in all the drawers, but we couldn't see any in here (because it was crammed full of junk and you couldn't see anything anyway!) When I pulled everything out, sure enough, there were some turds on the bottom. So I got rid of any paper boxes, and took the plastic boxes and scrubbed them in hot soapy water. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the dam javex open -those lousy child proof lids. But in the drawer I found alcohol swabs, and used those to wipe down the drawer and all its contents. Unfortunately, they were very tiny and it took a long time using a pile of them. But I perservered and totally lost track of time. By the time I tested every pen and marker in the drawer to see if they worked, then cleaned, organized and put things back, it was 3 am!! Time flies when you are having fun! It was really nit picking work! There were loose staples, paper clips, and two boxes of the same thing opened at once, so I put any duplicates in the storage room to cut down what was in this drawer. Now you can see anything at a glance when you open it. But alas, lots of males use this desk so its only a matter of time before it gets messy as they can't seem to put anything back where it was. Case in point -the box cutter was left in the bottom with the blade out, buried under something else. I could have cut myself picking up stuff, was lucky.
Finally, I was dead tired and headed off home. Bad sleep of course as I had to get going early to the club tomorrow. I tried to rest in, not doing my usual morning exercise. Trudging back through the snow was going to be good exercise. In spite of all the snow, we still had 19.5 tables of bridge. Our lot wasn't cleaned of snow, so people were getting stuck, but fortunately, someone with a good truck and tow rope was getting people out for us. Had a number of calls at the beginning, but then the game settled down after that. Got home and immediately went to the mall with two pairs of pants I needed hemming. $27 later, I picked up some grocery essentials and headed home.
I have no game tomorrow, looking forward to the day off.
Have a Totally Terrific Tuesday everyone!
Hugs,
Linda
