Me, Meet the Old Me

Monday, December 03, 2012

There are definitely moments when I look at myself and feel I have not made much progress. Today, in one of those moments, I decided to put those negative thoughts to the test.

I pulled out a photo from earlier this week and initially I started nitpicking my current photo apart, wishing away the budges in my stomach, wondering why exercise had not made that part of my body thin and lean, wondering why my arms were so large after having worked so hard for so long- you know the drill.

But then, I took my current photo and "introduced" it to my "before" photo. Man, what a nice surprise. Seeing these two people together was like seeing two DIFFERENT people, and suddenly I became very proud of the me that I am now.

The effort really has paid off and today I was able to take a step back and appreciate this.

I look forward to introducing my future self to my current self so that she can congratulate this girl on how much work she's done. We're never going back to the "before" person again!

That is quite the change. I'm glad that you were able to recognize all of your own hard work.

YOU LOOK AWESOME! I find having a good side-by-side comparison helps with the motivation so very much! I have one too, and I look at it and remember where I was, where I am now and where I'm heading.

You look fantastic! I am so happy that I took before pictures because I definitely need that reminder when I'm feeling down on myself. Keep it up! You're doing great! emoticon emoticon

It's really hard to see the difference on a daily basis, but looking at "before" photos always does the trick for me too. You're doing great!

Love the side-by-side! So easy to still be in that negative headspace about our bodies until we compare with old, unhealthy images!

Keep up the great work!!

You look amazing! I do the same thing! I can not think a current photo looks good until I compare it to an old photo because I can't see the progress until it's side by side. I will be happy when that isn't the case any more. Congrats on all your progress! emoticon
