Uh Oh....Monday's Back!

Monday, December 03, 2012

Hmmmm...I peeked out from under the covers this morning only to discover that Monday had sneaked back into my life! Now how did that happen? I thought sure I had told Monday to never return! But just like a naughty kid, it came right back! Oh...Monday is SO going on Santa's Naughty List!

An update on my friend that is sick...she came home from the hospital today. She's all swollen up from all the antibiotics she's on. She's very tried and weak. Just please keep her in your thoughts.

So the weekend wasn't totally bad. Sat I worked on getting some laundry done (I normally do it all on Sunday) since it had been like two weeks since I really did any washing. I did small loads here and there as we needed. First thing we did Sat morning was get Starbucks, then off to do our weekly shopping. We hit Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, and the base. Chuck was still not feeling good so we just stayed home the rest of Sat. I made Corn Chowder for dinner. It's his mom's recipe.

Sunday I made breakfast then we went to Starbucks for coffee. After we came home, Chuck filled all our cars with gas left over from the races. emoticon I won't have to buy gas this week! Then I ran to the local Neighborhood Wal-Mart to pick up a Rx for me. I also got some packages of Sugar Cookie mix (OK...I know that's cheating..but I was short on time!). The cookies, while tasting good, turned out flat and square. I thought I was being cleaver, rolling the dough into nice little balls, plopping the balls onto the cookie sheet, flatting them out just a bit and adding Candy Cane Kisses and mini Reese's Cups. Not so cleaver...as the cookies spread out on the cookie sheet and filled it up..so they all came out square! Oh well....I had fun baking them! here's a picture!

Then it was on to getting the Christmas Tree up! We have a fake one, the first year I was down here for Christmas (Dec 2000), we bought one and it was expensive! And it dried out really fast. So we got the fake one. But it's a NICE fake one. Anyway...Chuck got it down and I put it together. here it is before lights were added.

We didn't get all the lights on, one of our new LED strings crapped out on us. So it's only partly done. As soon as we can exchange the string for a new set, we'll get it all done.

Then it was time for dinner. We had what we always have on Sunday night...a rib eye steak and a baked tater.

I DID get my 50 min workout done in the gym at lunch, plus a bunch of co-workers talked me into a 20 min walk at last break (3 PM). Eating was OK today. I had a bagel (plain) with 2 tbs of Pumpkin Smear and some Cream of Wheat for breakfast, then my salad and yogurt for lunch, a banana for a snack and two small cookies. Dinner will probably be left over Corn Chowder. With maybe some corn bread.

I do need to start thinking about Christmas shopping. And my poor daughter..her SUV transmission is going out. The repair shop told her $5 K to $10 K to fix it. She CAN drive it but they said she needs to think about getting a newer car soon! They do have a second car, but it's kind of small for the whole family.

So that's it for me....I'm just waiting to see the backside of this Monday!

Thanks for the update on your friend. Will keep her in out prayers. Sorry to hear, though, that Chuck still isn't 100%. Did you guys get your flu shots this year? I'm so proud of you getting back into your gym routine at work. AND a 20 minute walk! I'm jealous. I wish I had someone to walk with here. We put our tree up last night. Still gotta get the other stuff out, though. We spent Saturday going through the Christmas stuff we've collected over the last 40 years. Quite a bit of it we took into Friends of MS/Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Felt good to whittle things down a little bit. Sort of like losing weight! LOL. Btw, where is it written that cookies must be round? Anyone can make round cookies. It takes someone very creative to make square ones! emoticon Hugs, Calen~
