We Survived the Storm

Monday, December 03, 2012

The storm dumped up to 27" of rain a bit north of us. The creek swelled, rising up over its banks filling the greenbelt behind the house with dirty, roaring, white white water rapids - missing our home by a 6 foot embankment. It was that small rise that saved our house from flooding. We took photos, but I couldn't figure out how to post them here. Then as rapidly as the creek filled it went down. In the aftermath, I walked down towards the creek to witness the massive force that broke trees off at there base and moved large rocks like they were nothing.

Thank goodness we were spared.

isn't water interesting. we would die without it, and too much can cause so much damage and change. people just don't realize how strong running water really is. glad it left your house alone, but, truly, didn't it fascinate you and keep you watching in awe.

When you load them on the computer than there should be a place in the blog that tells you if you want to upload a picture just like you did with your background. It may take some time to up load it.

Oh so glad to hear you are okay! I thought of you and watched the news but not much on Redding was covered. Sac had flooding enough to keep the local news busy. Thank goodness for that 6 ft bank!
