The storm dumped up to 27" of rain a bit north of us. The creek swelled, rising up over its banks filling the greenbelt behind the house with dirty, roaring, white white water rapids - missing our home by a 6 foot embankment. It was that small rise that saved our house from flooding. We took photos, but I couldn't figure out how to post them here. Then as rapidly as the creek filled it went down. In the aftermath, I walked down towards the creek to witness the massive force that broke trees off at there base and moved large rocks like they were nothing.
Thank goodness we were spared.
