Mindful eating. What is it, really? Lately I've been researching and thinking alot about the whole concept of mindful eating. It's been something I've been trying to incorporate into my life for the last 5 months, with some success. Since reaching within 1-2 lbs of my target goal weight range, I've moved on to the last step-figuring out how to maintain my weight, and keep it that way for the rest of my life-which is a challenge possibly bigger than losing the weight itself! And with the holidays coming up, its very difficult to keep track of calories, fat, protein levels etc, etc what with all the holiday parties, gathering and Christmas baking.

So, my problem that I'm trying to find a solution for is how to maintain my weight (and possibly lose a couple pounds) WITHOUT using food trackers. That's where I think mindful eating comes in. There's been overwhelming evidence and research done that our relationship with food is mostly mental, and if we can change the way our brain relates to food, it is much easier to maintain your weight. During my weight loss journey, I found that I was becoming overly-dependent on tracking my calories each day, and it got to the point where I would become anxious, and that feeling would not go away until I would punch in what I ate, find out how many calories it was, and how many I had left to eat that day. I was addicted to my food tracker! I am trying to break that cycle now, and instead, listen to my body to tell me when it is truly hungry, and when I do eat, savoring every bite.
