Gardened to a standstill

Monday, December 03, 2012

We had perfect weather yesterday. Still, hot, but not too hot in the shade, and it stayed that way until well into the evening. And I spent 7 hours in the garden. We've lived in our place for 11 years now and the garden was very neglected when I got started on it. So I planted a lot of shrubs and perennials, and now some of them are showing their age and due for replacement.

Plus the weeds have had their way in a few sections so the wedding of our housemates and my birthday and Christmas coming up are the impetus to have a big push in the garden to smarten it up. Even if I don't get all the plants that are looking a bit tired replaced, I can prepare to do that in autumn.
After seven hours the chooks have a pile to work on in their run, I have filled a fadge ready to go into the compost heap, one terrace is nearly done and about 25 plants are newly in the ground and were watered last night in the cool of the evening.

And I can hardly move, but you get that with the big jobs.
