Little O & Green Tea

Monday, December 03, 2012

Little O is now in his second week of daycare… and the magic of it wore off on day 3. So he’s been crying and calling for daddy when daddy leaves him there in the morning. Pretty sure DH dies a little bit inside every morning. How hard is it to leave your 2 year old crying for you as you walk away? Guess I’ll find out. I’ll be dropping him off tomorrow morning probably.

(Daycares should be equipped with psychologists who can help moms and kids deal with post-traumatic stress disorder. Just a thought…)

Here’s my prediction of tomorrow morning: I’ll be late to work. (Wonder if I should go ahead and turn in my time?) I think I’m going to plan to leave the house about 10 minutes early. And I’m going to have Little O give me a tour of the “big-boy-school-classroom” that he’s been going to.

Green Tea Update…. Dunt, dunt, duuuuuhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Ok – so Green Tea and I have been arch enemy’s for quite some time now. I do not like tea, I do not like coffee. If I ever needed an energy pick me up, it has been with sugary sodas or diet-soda (you know – diet soda – the stuff that is loaded with poison and will be the downfall of humanity??) Dinos had their meteor and people have diet soda… we’re poisoning ourselves with the stuff… and I STILL DRINK IT (on occasion)!

So I figure that (like beer – which I still don’t like) Green Tea is an acquired taste. So I started drinking a cup a day about 2 weeks ago (in hopes that it would help stave off the craptastic sickness that everyone was passing around my office – and it worked at least as part of my mad-woman I-cannot-get-sick tirade.)

So, I was chugging a cup a day (so I wouldn’t taste it) and then making really awful faces after. Then last week… omg… no awful face! Then by the end of the week – I wasn’t chugging it! What am I doing right now? SIPPING GREEN TEA!!! Holla! (Hark the Herald, Angels sing… glory, Becca’s drinking green tea!)
Do I love it? No. But at least now I don’t seriously want to stab someone in the eye with a pencil when I drink it. I still don’t really like it yet – but I find myself wanting it. I know, weird right?

My goal is to be able to drink 3 cups a day. I think this would be an extremely healthy habit to get into, and I’ll be able to get just a bit of caffeine (and yes – I know how corny all this sounds to you coffee drinkers… or better yet, you grande mocha latte double shot coffee caffeine (cracked out) starbucks drinkers (you know who you are – you spend $10 on a cup of coffee EVERY day. We could feed a 3rd world country with your coffee budget – oh, yes, it’s called starBUCKS for a reason!)

Ok – gotta go, my tea is getting cold. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s blog when I share my Christmas list and I share my thoughts on the marital “7 Year Itch”.

Way to go! Glad you are feeling better. I understand separation anxiety. My daughter is 12 and I still feel that way every night when I leave her room and she keeps needing something. She gets very needy and whiny! I'm trying to cut the apron strings but..... emoticon
